Back Deck Partners was born over 20 years ago on an actual back deck.
On a sunny weekday afternoon, Barb’s best friend called her in a bind: she had landed an interview for a job she really wanted—but her arm was in a cast, still healing from a break. Without hesitation, Barb said, “Come over. We’ll figure it out.”
Twenty minutes later, the two of them were out on the back deck with a handsaw, cutting the cast off so that interview could be tackled with confidence. She got the job. And by that evening, the cast was back on, thanks to a little bit of duct tape.
The moment was pure instinct—a bold act of creativity, fierce loyalty, and doing what it takes to help someone important unlock something important. A lasting reminder that often the most powerful support isn’t loud or public. It’s someone sitting beside you who sees what you need and stays to help you sort it out.

CEO & Founder
Barb Bidan is an executive coach and seasoned operator with over 25 years of experience helping leaders and organizations scale—without losing clarity, culture, or their minds. She’s held executive roles in global HR, operations, and communications; led cross-functional teams spanning IT, Security, and Real Estate; and owned a P&L for a over a decade.
Barb has coached and advised founders, CEOs, and senior leaders as they navigate growth, complexity, tough decisions, and team dynamics. Her style is direct but thoughtful—grounded in decades of real-world leadership experience and always in service of helping clients lead with more clarity, greater intention, and better results—on their terms.
